In 2024, mentorship has become a cornerstone of professional growth, and at ADPList, we’ve witnessed firsthand how transformative these relationships can be. Today, we’re proud to unveil the ADPList100 List of Most Influential Mentors—a recognition of 116 exceptional individuals who have redefined what it means to empower others through knowledge sharing, leadership, and unwavering dedication. While the title reflects our founding vision of celebrating 100 mentors, this year’s expansion to 116 honorees underscores the exponential growth of mentorship’s impact across industries and geographies

A Dynamic Approach to Recognition

Unlike static “top lists” driven solely by popularity metrics, the ADPList100 evaluates mentors through a holistic lens. Inspired by frameworks like TIME100 list—which prioritizes innovation, leadership, and measurable impact in the world—we’ve tailored our criteria to reflect the unique dynamics of mentorship:

  1. Community-Driven Nominations: Over 5,000 nominations poured in from ADPList members worldwide, highlighting mentors who transformed careers, sparked pivots, or provided critical guidance during challenging transitions.
  2. Quantifiable Impact: Mentorship minutes logged, session completion rates, and post-session career advancements (e.g., promotions, certifications) were analyzed to identify mentors delivering tangible outcomes. In 2024 alone, honorees contributed 30 million+ mentorship minutes across 100,000+ sessions
    1. This includes the reviews they get.
    2. Positive ratings and world-class positive sentiments
  3. Innovation in Mentorship: Honorees were evaluated on novel approaches, such as:
    1. Hosting open-invitation “office hours” for marginalized groups
    2. Creating free upskilling resources (e.g., UX design playbooks, salary negotiation templates)
    3. Leveraging AI tools to scale personalized guidance without sacrificing human connection

Phase 1: Nominations and Community Validation

The process began with open nominations, mirroring Mine’s approach to crowdsourcing insights for their Top DPOs list. However, we added a layer of validation:

  • Peer Reviews: Mentors could endorse nominees, with a requirement of ≥3 endorsements for consideration.
  • Member Testimonials: Anonymous feedback from mentees was weighted at 40% of the scoring criteria. One mentee wrote: “My mentor didn’t just review my portfolio—they helped me rebuild my self-worth after a layoff.”

Phase 2: Impact Metrics and Editorial Review

A cross-functional team analyzed:

  • Session Depth: Average session duration, follow-up frequency, and mentee retention rates.
  • Career Outcomes: Tracked via opt-in surveys (e.g., 63% of mentees reported salary increases within six months of sessions).
  • Thought Leadership: Keynotes, published guides, and media contributions (e.g., honorees authored 12 bestselling career development books/courses in 2024).

Why 116 Mentors?

The decision to exceed 100 honorees reflects two realities:

The Surge in High-Impact Mentors: Post-pandemic, ADPList saw a 214% increase in mentors delivering ≥10 sessions/month with ≥4.9/5 ratings. As founder Felix Lee noted: “Limiting to 100 would have meant excluding pioneers who are literally rewriting mentorship’s playbook.”

Sector-Specific Needs: Emerging fields like generative AI required dedicated representation.
